BROOKLYN FRENCH TOAST

This crispy, caramel crust formed by a generous dusting of powdered sugar puts the soggy, monotonous standard to shame. The Brooklyn French Toast is absolutely guaranteed to put your taste buds into rapture.
Prep time: 3 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4 1-inch slices crusty sourdough or peasant bread
- 4 plus tablespoons butter
- 8 teaspoons powdered sugar
DIRECTIONS:
- Heat oven to 250 degrees
- Combine/ Whisk:
- eggs
- heavy cream
- vanilla extract
- cinnamon
- eggs
- Soak slice of bread in batter for about 1 minute turning over once
- Warm skillet/ pan over medium heat
- Melt butter in skillet/ pan (Don't burn the butter!)
- Dust slice of bread with 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar
- Put slice of bread sugar side down and cook until it's golden (2-3 minutes)
- Dust the other side of bread with powdered sugar, flip the bread and cook until golden (2-3 minutes)
- Put it on a plate and keep warm in the oven
- Repeat steps 4-7 with the other slices. (Keep an even pool of butter in Skillet/ Pan)
- Serve with: Maple Syrup or Jam
